SEATY - The floating festival city
PEBLINGE SØ, KØBENHAVN (DANMARK)
BUILDING COMPONENT DESIGN COURSE (DTU)
Copenhagen is a festival city. throughout the year the city organises many events which attracts many people to the city. The possibilities to find affordable accommodation during these periods are scarce, and people tend to find accommodation outside the city and commute to the city everyday for the events.
One examples of these events which attracts many people to the city is the Distortion music festival, which takes place every year at the beginning of June. Thousand of people arrive to the city to enjoy 4 days of music.
How can Copenhagen find cheap and temporary accommodation for them without intensifying already dense urban areas? and is it possible to do it in the centre of the city near where the events take place?
LOCATION

Distortion public events take place between Nørrebro and Vesterbro, not far from the city centre.
The circles around show the 20 min walking distance from the centre of the events and from the city centre. The intersection is the ideal location to accommodate the "temporary citizens" so they can walk throughout the city and its events.
